Apr. 2nd, 2007 01:31 pm2003 EL61: A rock most of the size of Pluto, rotating so fast that it's spinning end-over-end every 4 hours
The really neat part? This rock will eventually be pulled into the inner solar system by Neptune. After that, it will encounter Jupiter, and either leave the solar system at high speed or get turned into a comet.
And a comet that big, spinning that much, is expected by rough calculation to be roughly as bright as the moon, for decades at a time, spraying dust in all directions.
And THAT is awesome. Too bad it will take about a billion more years to happen.
