In completely unrelated news: Teenaged girl brings a 6lb operational morning star to school because she sick of being picked on. Chicago school system promptly has an object lesson in medieval weaponry.
Well they specify it was a for-reals-spiky deal, rather than blunted points or hollow or nerf or whatever... Admitedly a 6lb morning star with blunt points is mostly "slightly less efficient at the skull cracking" rather than "not good at all at the skull cracking", but they're very particular about it being properly spiky.
Sort of my thoughts. You can use the stick for thwacking people and the chain for whacking people. You could even throw the spiky ball at someone, athough OH&S might require gloves at that point.
Properly spiky is important, though. We wouldn't want it to get an inferiority complex.
