Dangerous prisoner faxes self to freedom.

Apparently the "court order" from the Supreme Court Of Kentucky "demanding" the immediate release of a man being held for psychological evaluation, coming from a grocery store fax machine, on plain paper, with multiple grammatical and spelling errors, was unremarkable enough that the prison officials just thought it was business as usual.

I'm just glad this didn't happen in Ohio.

It's so nice to see government officials under the Bush administration throwing out policies that were in effect in Clinton's era.

That's the one that got me. Not on letterhead and misspellings being common? What kind of shoddy operation is this?

'xactly. I mean, there's a *reason* there are correspondence guidelines and formatting standards and letterhead.

Part of it is that it looks professional. It occurs to me now that part of it may be that it's the kind of thing very few people consciously pay attention to, but that you should know to look for if handling official correspondence is part of your job.

That's right. And anyone who has worked in any government department knows that nobody does anything without the correct official signature. How did these people not look for a valid, not to mention authoritative, signature? People around here won't even schedule a meeting without the appropriate federal approval.
