Nov. 23rd, 2004 11:36 pmA monkeywrench in the no-gay-marriage courts.
Two women are married in Kansas.
Well, two women who used to be men are married in Kansas.
One of them is legally a woman. The other is legally still a man. They've got a marriage license and have had a priest perform the ceremony and everything.
The county attorney got involved after the legally-a-man one's daughter called him to tell him that the two women were living with a falsified marriage license.
Now they're in court facing charges of falsifying a marriage license because they're both women.
Or they're both men.
Or one of them is a... well, nobody is quite sure exactly how things stand, and a poor rural Kansas count jduge has to deal with it. I don't envy him, one bit.
