Music thoughts.

I'm making a CD. It has a theme. I need songs that fit the theme.
What I have:
Johnny Cash - The Man Comes Around
Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand
Traditional - The Devil Went Down To Georgia
I'm sure you can see my pattern, now. What else needs to go on this CD?
And no, "Satan Gave Me A Taco" doesn't fit.

Elvis - Devil in Disguise
Eagles - Hotel California (maybe, maybe not)
DMX - Damien
You could also opt to include the Primus version of Charlie Daniels "Devil Went Down to Georgia" if you don't mind cover tunes and/or repeated songs.
Then, of course, there's Satan's song from the South Park movie, but "Up There" is designed to be more Disney-ish on purpose (think Little Mermaid).
I agree with Tenacious D, even if it part of it is a "tribute" to Devil Went Down to Georgia.
Oh, there's also Stephen Lynch - Beelz. VERY funny, but might not be entirely appropriate for a more serious-minded song compilation. Highlights: "And f*ck Charlie Daniels, I don't care if you can fiddle..." and "this is f*cking b*llsh*t because I would not be caught dead in... Georgia...."

Date: 2007-06-09 06:23 pm (UTC)Pretty sad that with all the PMRC and related people bitching about heavy metal being all Satanic in the '80s, I can't really think of much else that's outright evil/devil related off the top of my head. -_-

Date: 2007-06-09 08:17 pm (UTC)That would be "Sympathy For The Devil", and yes, it's the Rolling Stones.

Date: 2007-06-09 10:15 pm (UTC)Maybe not quite matching your request, but...
Date: 2007-06-09 10:46 pm (UTC)"Night on Bald Mountain" - Mussorgsky. Not necessarily about the devil, but Fantasia sort of cemented that image into most folks' minds. It did in mine, anyway.

Date: 2007-06-09 11:48 pm (UTC)Also (some of these are quite silly):
Neil Sadaka: Little Devil
Jenny Lewis & the Watson Twins: Run Devil Run
INXS: Devil Inside
Holly Golightly & the Brokeoff: Devil Do
Future Clouds & Radar: Devil No More
Squirrel Nut Zippers: Hell
Danko Jones: Home to Hell
And I can't think of any, but Tom Waits seems like someone who would have Satan-related songs.

Date: 2007-06-10 12:53 am (UTC)...okay, okay, I can be more helpful than that:
Hellhound on My Trail
Blue Spirit Blues
Crossroad Blues (Clapton's version is quite good)
Me and the Devil Blues
Devil Got My Woman
Robert Johnson did most of these.

Date: 2007-06-10 03:59 am (UTC)"Devil's Onions" by Shriekback
"The Day the Devil" by Laurie Anderson
"To Hell with the Devil" by Stryper
And of course Satan singing "Up There" from the South Park soundtrack.

Spinal Tap: "Christmas with the Devil"
There's got to be a Blue Oyster Cult song that applies, but I can't think of it off the top of my head.
