You'll need to ignore Linguini, because his acting is horrible and his character is uninteresting. Ian Holm and Peter O'Toole more than make up for him, though.

Yeah, amazing flick. I'd meant to write a review last weekend, but a case of the lazies got in the way. Maybe later.

-- Steve found O'Toole's character especially memorable, for some reason or other...

Because he's Peter Fucking O'Toole?

Well... that, too. *grin* (Hint: think on the character's name.)

-- Steve loved the totally unsubtle "set design" hints around the critic. Writing room with the coffin-like floorplan, typewriter making a skull face, etc.

Aw, I thought Linguini was a cute chubby little rat, that disappointing that he's a bad character. I thought he was supposed to be comic relief? Ah well, I totally wanna see this movie!!

No, the fat sidekick rat is Emile. (A Meal, get it? Huh? Huh?)
The main character viewpoint rat is Remy.

Linguini is the human sidekick, and he annoyed the hell out of me, but not enough to ruin the rest of the film.

LMAO! That's pretty cute, Emile. Well, I'll have to go see it, hehe. I always liked the name "Remi," It's a cute name =P

Why would a human be named Linguini? Sounds like the rats have more human names.

I loved Linguini. I thought he was a great character. Good animation and perfect partner to Ren.

Linguini's weakness as a character and as a part of the plot (why didn't Remy teach him to cook, if anyone, even a rat, can cook?) are the one nit I'd pick with the movie.

But I was too bowled over by the rest to even really think about it until well after it was over.

I figure it's that anyone can cook. I don't think it means anyone can cook well enough to improvise recipes that will lift a restaurant out of the sullied depths of three-star food.

Just saw it. Was better than The Incredibles. I didn't think that was possible. Besides a cool story with good actors (including Jeanine Girafolo), it had some amazing animation. The wet rat fur awed me every time. And the rat eyes in darkness was cool too.
