Yep. It's not just there, either. I have friends who were involved in finding widespread plagiarism in engineering ethics courses at Carleton, and there was quite a bit of this shooting of messengers. Further investigations were blocked, even though it is more than likely that this was quite a bit more widespread.
Given that the professors teaching the classes were blatantly plagiarising most of their "lecture material" and had been doing so for years while assigning failing grades based on random selection to make it look like they'd done more than given 98% marks for name + student number on earlier coursework?
NOBODY was surprised at those results. Nobody in the slightest.
