Hooray! I've been reading her blog since you linked to it (I think it was you) a while back. It's good to know she's out. I hope she and her family find a safe place to go.
It's like strapping astronauts onto a rocket for a trip to Mars, and after not hearing anything for a long time, you finally hear that they survived the launch. Yay! Now they just have to break orbit, navigate the solar system, dodge asteroids, enter Mars orbit, enter the Martian atmosphere, ...
What Riverbend and her family have done is, as she said, a huge huge thing, never done lightly (xenophobic propaganda from certain antipodean politicians notwithstanding). That it is an improvement over the conditions in Iraq puts the lie to the whole "give the Surge time to work" bullshit.
