Apparently this time, it's real.

This makes what, the 20th time he's been reported dead? 25? Sadly, this one is real.

Let's see ... brilliant artist, brilliant artist, guy who drives fast. Something seems ... off, there.

Well, it's not like there was any evidence he ever intended to finish that series.

His death rattle may well be a sigh of relief.

I, on the other hand, looked forward to seeing him try to tie all the threads together. Alas.

Actually, it seemed very likely that the next one really would have been the last.

I am just deeply skeptical of the notion that Robert Jordan was capable of finishing.

I think he knew his time was coming. If you read Knife of Dreams, it's VERY clear that he was setting up for the Very End, No, I Really Mean It This Time, I'm Mostly Done With Dipping Cleavages.

Noooooo!

Yes, I'm sad for his family and loved ones. But that's kinda in an abstract way.

Drat. I was still hoping that the Wheel would stop spinning in the snow and finally reach a destination in what was supposed to be the last book.

It makes me sad in an "end of an era" kind of way. Without his series, I never would have gotten to know several of the people I correspond with online or any of the livejournals I read including this one.

I am so sad that I will never get to find out the ending he kept telling us he had in his head.

Apparently, he's written the ending and given instructions to his wife on how to finish the book. He did this, knowing he was dying.

But yes, he's always going to rank very high in my list of favourite authors just because of the people I met through his work, even if the work itself wasn't the greatest.
