Stupid human brain tricks.
Sep. 18th, 2007 04:38 pmMatej Kus, an 18 year old Czech biker, was knocked out in an accident on September 9th, 2007 on a speedway in Glasgow.
Before being knocked out, his spoken English was "nonfluent" - he apparently had trouble getting native speakers to understand more than two or three words in a row. He had been struggling to speak English for a while.
For two days after regaining consciousness his English was fluent. He didn't know who he was, where he was, or even that he was Czech, but Matej was chatting easily with the paramedics as they loaded him into the ambulance.
Now, a week later, Matej cannot remember the two days after the accident, but he knows who he is and where he's from. And he once again cannot speak English.
