"If you feel that your town is in danger of becoming overpopulated with the open-minded, there are steps you can take. Petition your city council to set up roadblocks at all major entrances to your community. Outlanders will be subjected to searches to ensure they don’t have any yoga DVDs, incense sticks or trendy books on child-rearing. Also, all residents leaving town should be forced to wear helmets made of tinfoil. The tinfoil helmets will keep dangerous ideas from getting into their heads while they’re Outside. If anyone objects, tell them they should have an open mind."

Closed-minded people are the ones who suggest things like, “You might want to cook that before you eat that,” “Does this really work?” and “Lock your car doors.” We’re sort of like the weights in hot air balloons. We keep people who are dumb enough to get into a hot air balloon from flying into harm’s way."
No, that's just common sense, that's not close-mindedness. You can have an open-mind and have common sense as well. People with common sense would say those things. I say those things, and I would not consider myself close minded.
So my next question has to be... This article is a joke, right? I'm not familiar with this website.
Because when I think open minded, I think of taking everyone's opinions and lifestyles into consideration, and not to just write it off outright. That doesn't mean you have to agree. You just consider it. When I think close-minded, I think stubborness combined with tradition and/or religion. And the whole "I don't even want to hear it" attitude.
