I've been there - it's a very interesting place. Unless I'm mistaken, that shiny box near the top is the golden reliquary that holds the bones of three men who are supposedly the Three Wise Men.
Try looking at the picture with just one eye open.
When you're using both eyes and you have functioning stereo vision, the fact that there isn't physcially a difference between left and right eyes makes that input go "it's flat" even though your image-processor is going "hang on, I see perspective, that's gigantically spatial". One eye, you don't expect the stereo cue to be there and so no conflicting messages.
I don't actually have much stereo vision myself so there's not that much difference between one and two eyes.
