A change from the usual: Jehovah's Witless manages to kill only herself, not her children, by refusing treatment at a hospital.

Quoth a fellow Witless: "we can't believe she died after childbirth in this day and age, with all the technology there is" - uh, yeah, no shit, Sherlock, she REFUSED TREATMENT. Her husband refused to get her treatment. Her parents refused to get her treatment. She's dead, "in this day and age, with all the technology there is" because she, and you, are ignorant savages.

There's hope, at least, that the father and grandparents will be correctly deemed incompetent to raise children and the children will be removed from their care and given to sane people who might actually not kill them through gross incompetence, but I find that unlikely. Severe, crippling insanity isn't actually considered a reason to save your children from your abuse, as long as your delusions aren't creative or original.

I was raised a Jehovah's Witness.

Bullshit like this is part of the reason why I left.

I'd go into all the win in your comments, but I would just be reprinting the post verbatim.

Sadly there are few laws in our country protecting children from religion.

my sister married one. and i talk to a former one every day on the telephone. he had to leave his family when he left the church. in a way we fear we've lost her. she does seem to be friendly and welcoming, though, and her husband is a remarkable artist and craftsman. i don't think they save for retirement because they're banking on the rapture or something.

I find their refusal of blood transfusion theologically dubious. Using blood as food is desecrating it, I don't see that applying to transfusion. But on their own terms, I think she acted logically. Life is short, eternity is long, and she picked the latter. It is the rest of Christendom that is strange, by cherry-picking the parts of the Bible that look good.
