I was wondering that myself....according to this article (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/11/05/wlimbs205.xml) her genitourinary systems are located on the left side, so I'm guessing something is coming out between her left leg and the parasitic twin's right?
"Poonam, who gave birth to Lakshmi on the celebration day of the four-armed Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity after whom the new born was named, said:"
The headline has it wrong. The body (and the mother) have it right.
Her mother's attitude is so sensible--"She's a miracle but she can't live like this." Valuing both how she is but also the value of a "normal" life.
I look at that skeleton and think, "Oh my god, the back pain this person will have as she gets older..."
But wow. Just amazing. Can you imagine how shocking it must have been to the first people to look at her when she was born? "Congratulations, it's a...spider?"
Wow, I thought I was going to be really disturbed, but I actually think she's really cute, in a "D'awww, Mommy's little four-armed bubbala kind of way."
Incidentally, she had successful surgery to separate her from the parasitic twin, and they were able to rebuild her pelvis, so she can live a normal life.
It's a bit early to say everything is "Successful" however, she's still on a ventilator in intensive care (a 27 hour operation will take a lot out of a kid). But so far, so good.
I wouldn't celebrate until she makes it a month after, so we can be sure she doesn't get any secondary infections or whatever.

Adorable kid.
