Mormon theology, as revealed personally by God himself to Joseph Smith and deemed perfect and complete by God at that time[1], states that dark skin is a sign of the unrepented sin of your ancestors, that black people cannot be priests because of this unrepented sin[2], and that a sufficiently righteous black man would be made white again.

And I'm thinking:

This explains so much.

[1]: Or Smith was lying about it, or deluded. I don't think those are worth considering, though, really.
[2]: A doctrine the church changed, altering God's perfect and complete Revelation, in 1978

His nose really frightens me. I mean, the rest is bad, but the nose...

...bruh. Mad Uncanny Valley, there.

That's not a nose. I wish I could remember which Eminem video makes fun of it.

I don't know which is more frightening, that picture, or mormons

Michael Jackson should only terrify you if you're being babysat by him.

The idea of President Romney should be enough to make you wet your pants in abject fear.

But that last has very little to do with him being a Mormon.

It has everything to do with his "devout membership" in a cult that honestly believes in the stockpiling of weapons, food and water so they can survive the coming armageddon.

Not to mention the cult's exhaustive cross-indexed genealogical records practically BIRTHED the phrase "Total Information Awareness".

First of all, weapons aren't what's preached by contemporary Mormon leadership, but food and water, yes. I personally don't own a weapon unless you count my blowgun. And regardless of what one cult believes compared to another, keeping non-perishable goods and water in case of catastrophe is never a bad idea. I'm sure there are quite a few Mormons in Atlanta right now who aren't worried in the least about the water shortage for example.

...I was about to say something flip about how surely the federal infrastructure can handle provision of same in case of catastrophe, and I just couldn't do it.

Off to be bitter, now.

But he's turning white.

Meaning, according to the Mormons, he must be doing SOMETHING right.

I do hate it when people change their own rules. It's poor sportsmanship. On the other hand, making stuff up to suit your game-plan and pretending that it's irrefutable truth is such a popular strategy. It's a sad kind of fun to be reminded that the world as we know it is perched upon a pinnacle of delusions. I love it and hate it all at the same time.

Poor self-mutilated Jackson. At least his beard and mustache seems to be growing properly, but his eyebrows look painted on. I don't want to know what condition his nose is in, or what's left of it.

It's been part of Mormon theology since the beginning[1] that the current Prophet can overrule the older prophets, and, as far as I know, none of them except Smith have claimed that their individual theology is perfect and given with God's stamp of approval as final and complete.

[1]: As in, Smith did it to his own stories when he wanted to change them

Cool! Immutable truth that is fact mutable when so desired as part of the game plan. Sweet deal for the shepherd, unsettling for the sheep.

Dogmatic religion continues to appall me. Basing one's beliefs upon books several thousand years out of date and pretending to understand the context in which they were written enough to apply them in a modern sense is ridiculous.

Indoctrination through multiple generations is the only reason people can write off more ancient mythology such as the Hurrian Kingdom in Heaven as preposterous while pretending the Bible is pertinent.

I'm so disappointed. I was practically promised people posting angry comments. 8-/ Where are they? Did you set traps and release them into the wilderness never to return? Why oh why is everyone so nice? It's unnatural. *wink* That'll be 50 p.
