Given the magnitude of this, I think it's crazy that I had never heard of it until now. We in the US can be self-absorbed, but something that big, that happened just next door - all of North America should be familiar with it.
Okay, I think a wall of molasses moving at 35mph is one of the scariest things I've ever heard of. I guess I'll have to stop using the phrase "slower than molasses", too.
