Are there still Diners that have those table-top juke boxes?

There's one in downtown Ottawa with that.

It's self-consciously retro, though.

Hmmm, I think there's a retro Diner on St Denis street in Montreal (one of those that has rounded edges, like a mobile home from the 60's). I should go peek inside one day, if it's still there.

Lots of diners do - the Five n Diner chain here does, as do some other 50's style diners, but yeah, it's definitely self-consciously retro, not anything truly left over from back in the day. I'm sure there's some restaurant supply chain that supplies them somewhere. :P

You know..I realize these are supposed to be anti-secondhand smoke and all, but I really dig on it..especially the baby smoke one *grins*

This has always been a sore topic for me. I sat down and read large numbers of studies about tobacco prior to starting pipe-smoking. What I learned is best summed up as follows:

The statements issued by anti-smoking lobbyists, and the studies they use to back them up, are as detached from reality as the studies backed by tobacco companies at the turn of the century which indicated tobacco use was beneficial for one's health.
