I remember shortly after 9/11 happened, one buzzword was "failure of imagination", as if to explain that this disaster couldn't have been averted because no one could properly conceive of it happening.

So, because a plane crash disaster happened once in the last 7 years, we shall not be allowed to attempt to simulate such a disaster in the future? Sigh.
