An asylum seeker, who stuffed shopping inside her clothes, told security staff it was the Romanian way to take things and pay later.

The thieving teenager, now banned from all stores in Wrexham, was found with pounds of meat and fruit hidden in a purpose-made sack under her skirt.

Tesco store detectives stopped 18-year-old Sandu Florenta as she staggered out with her load of stolen shopping, magistrates were told yesterday.

They discovered four packs of frozen lamb, three fresh chickens, three packets of stock cubes, finger chillies, a packet of burgers, garlic, peppers, socks and underwear plus almost five pounds of oranges and apples.

Florenta, who listened to evidence via a translator, has previous convictions for shoplifting.

One would think that if it was the custom in her homeland to take stuff and pay later, that everyone in her homeland would just walk out the door with it openly. IOW, *not* stuffed under clothing. That she did that suggests very much to me that that's not how things work in her homeland either and that means that she knew what she did was wrong.
