Putting the can on an open flame: unspeakably stupid.

But where I disagree with the article: washing off (I'm guessing oil-based) paint with gasoline is pretty much the most effective way to do so with household supplies. Ridiculing that practice was unnecessary.

Of course, regular gasoline-related safety precautions are required.

they used to use benzene as an all purpose lab solvent, including for washing hands.

then they noticed it was a bit carcinogenic.

now we just put carcinogens in our food.

No worries there. I think the stuff is vile and poisonous. The fact that it's a migraine trigger for me has nothing to do with that, I swear. >.>

"One should never use gasoline as a cleaning solvent - ever - near an open flame, because it gives off flammable vapors."

"...using the gasoline to clean the paint off her hands.

As if that wasn't clever enough...[stuff about putting it on an open flame]"

sounds pretty condescending to me.

You know there's some misogynist religious crazies in Florida just *begging* to be linked now, right?

From TFA: "In news that just has 'Florida' written all over it,"

That's a pretty cool trick, you've brought 'Guess the State' to a world-wide audience.

The Metro got it from FARK, actually, which has a "Florida" tag.
