And THIS is how you do music sales.
Mar. 6th, 2008 10:15 amNew Nine Inch Nails album available.
First 9 tracks = free download.
Entire double-album download: $5
Entire album on 2 CDs with pamphlet and all that other physical stuff: $10
Deluxe edition with both CDs, hardcover casing, Data DVD of all the original music in various formats, Blu-Ray disc with maximum quality surround-sound: $75.
Ultra-mega-sooper-deluxe edition: $300, but all 2500 units are already sold out.
Oh, and all the music is released under the CC Sharealike license - meaning as long as you make no money doing so, share it around and remix it all you want.
In case you missed my point: With free downloads available, and with the full download for $5, and with a license that *encourages* people to copy and share it, they still made $750,000 on the most expensive edition alone.
