I love my snakes, but if any of my cats were in this situation, I'd do the same thing, if I didn't have anything handy to use a few of my little tricks to get the snake to let go.

It doesn't say if the kitten lived or not, though--just that the snake let go of it. A python that large and powerful would probably have crushed the kitty hard enough to shatter a lot of bones, and the larger pythons have some seriously long needle-teeth. I doubt the kitten survived the incident. This is a good reason to keep cats indoors, especially in locations where you have giant pythons and where the majority of snake species are venomous :P

He should be keeping his cat inside anyways. In most parts of Australia it's against local ordinances to let a cat outside off-leash at ALL because of the destruction of native wildlife.

Even if your cat really isn't a killer, your neighbours might not know that, and deliberately try to run it down when they spot it loose. There's not a lot of sympathy for cats in some areas.

All the more reason we should be carving lolcats into the Outback with orbital lasers.

I mean, seriously. If deliberately running down cats is okay? Then your country is fucked up and needs cute.

We have cute. People's spoilt little feral monsters kill them all.

Not that I'd run down people's pets, but I've always wanted to hunt the giant feral monsters that are only good for making coats out of. They are pests people. Not cute fuzzy, more like Taz the animated Devil.

"Oh no! A snake ate my cat and my guinea pig, and last week it got the neighbour's dog, too! Well, nothing could possibly go wrong if I put the second cat outs-- OH NO WHAT A SURPRISE."

Goddamn Queensland.

We use Darwinistic principles to raise our kids in Australia.
