I'm more than happy to be told i'm wrong, but to my understanding, this isn't really cavitation. Surely cavitation is when a void opens up in a liquid (which is filled with the same stuff as the liquid, just in it's gaseous state) due to pressure differentials. this just looks like some air sucked into water by a passing hand
FTWA: The pistol shrimp snaps a specialized claw to create cavitation, which can kill small fish. I had a pair of these shrimp, and I just LOVED them. Now I know more about them, AND about pumps in general (and I wish they'd taught us about cavitation in Aquaculture Engineering class, would have been useful in a couple of instances, in hindsight).
Based on my understanding of it from the mechanical damage stand-point, cavitation describes the collapse of an bubble within a pressurized fluid system, not the bubble itself or its composite parts.
