So, in Stargate SG-1, there are apparently an alien race called Replicators. Purely robotic, they disassemble everything they run across to make more of themselves, and they assemble themselves into more complicated forms whenever necessary to overcome resistance.

Here's a clip of someone looking at their source code.

Here's a screenshot:

That's right. The terrifying aliens? Run JAVASCRIPT. Talking to a WEB BROWSER. On a site that has functions called "tour2" and "tour3", a "welcome" page, and a "paybill" page.

Unfortunately, they're not actually running a pornsite. Interstellar planet-eating pornbots would be cool, but they're not.

No, in fact, the terrifying aliens of doom are running The Royal Bank's website.

I have my browser set to ask permission before executing JavaScript. I'm immune to the Replicators! Whee!

Just as delicious as incinerator pods on luxury ocean-view estates hovering over waterworlds running the Windows 98 "Add New Hardware" wizard.

See, that I could believe. Firefly is *supposed* to be full of backwards and obsolete tech. And the dude just pulled it open and changed the hardware!

They attack with annoying popup windows. THE ALIENS ARE ALREADY HERE!

You know far more than anyone should about Stargate SG-1.

You worry me.

It may actually be a hip, ironic reference to the classic 1984 example:

"These mysterious lines were seen on Arnold's visual display:

LDA $FF
STA $20
TYX
TAY
LDX #$1B
PHA

It becomes curiouser and curiouser when one notes the clearly bitmapped, smooth scrolling characters. A theory: 2 68000s control the display, while the 6502 is his brain. AHA! you say -- How could he ride a motorcycle like that with only 64K of addressable RAM? Answer: Bank switching."

this is just as bad as the aliens in ID4 being mac compatible.

Actually, that one made a scary amount of sense: Macs aren't compatible with anything on EARTH. They're compatible with ALIENS.

Doesn't that explain a few things about Steve Jobs?

The Royal Bank being run by aliens makes a disturbing amount of sense.
