Former Army Colonel, who *retired in 1980*, called to "backfill" a position in America or Europe, accepts, and is then shipped to Afghanistan.

Unlike the other stories, this guy isn't mad about it, and he's glad to help - and also, unlike the draftees, he was asked, but it's still a bad sign for those still trusting Bush to not be lying about the draft like he's lied about everything else.

Yeah, it's not that he's over there serving, it's that they're so stretched they have to ask.
