I read somewhere that anything a cat can fit its head through, it can fit the rest of itself too.

Even after it has slid further down the V? I think that may be a cat soon to be in need of rescue...

Yeah, this one does look like it's got a problem, mostly because there's no leverage for its back legs.

I knew rats could do that. Didn't know about cats.

Poor poor thing.

Cats have free floating clavicle bones so yup, it's true.

I didn't know that about rats though.

I've seen mine go under the oven hunting mice ... and emerge from there looking f%$^ing EYEBALL-BENDINGLY like a cartoon cat picking itself up after being flattened by an anvil and de-squishing itself. I watched her do this several times, and f#!$@ if that impression refused to go away. It just Does Not Look Real. It looks like she's a flattened, empty tube of toothpaste (cat-shaped) being re-filled.

I've had guests witness this, and they found it similarly freaky.

First time I ever saw my cat go under the dresser was just WEIRD. They just spread out the front legs and flatten.

The above cat does NOT look at all unhappy - yet.

That's why they have whiskers. Their whiskers give them advance notice on if their head will fit, and if so they can go for it. My ferrets are the same way. It's weird feeling their cooked noodle ribs.
