I've seen mine go under the oven hunting mice ... and emerge from there looking f%$^ing EYEBALL-BENDINGLY like a cartoon cat picking itself up after being flattened by an anvil and de-squishing itself. I watched her do this several times, and f#!$@ if that impression refused to go away. It just Does Not Look Real. It looks like she's a flattened, empty tube of toothpaste (cat-shaped) being re-filled.
I've had guests witness this, and they found it similarly freaky.
That's why they have whiskers. Their whiskers give them advance notice on if their head will fit, and if so they can go for it. My ferrets are the same way. It's weird feeling their cooked noodle ribs.
