No offense, but that looks really, really dumb.

No worse than the armless nose-pinching sunglasses.

Besides, I haven't had it done. I just think it's a cool idea.

That... is... AWESOME...

Only because I've been dying to get the same piercing, but often worried about how I would put my glasses on.

But... how easy are they to remove?

From the article:

"I’ve only had them for about a week now, but I’ve been sleeping and showering in them. I hadn’t taken them off in four days when one of the brackets cut me while I was asleep; I’d forgotten to sand the edges and they were still razor sharp. They’re back on now and seem reliable enough to take on a two week trip over the holidays; I doubt I’ll need to take them off during that time. Taking them on and off is a bit of a hassle, as it involves taking a tiny screwdriver and unscrewing them while they’re on my face — about a 5 to 10 minute process — which I suppose is about what you’d spend with contacts."

Hmm... okay, maybe not so cool.

(Thanks for regurgitating for my lazy ass.)

"... which I suppose is about what you’d spend with contacts."

Except contacts won't rip open your face if you take a nose dive or get punched.

Bar fights... another reason to avoid facial piercings.

Also: The guy who built them is looking at improved versions. My suggestion: Small rare-earth magnets on the piercing itself, and have the glasses clip on to those. That should hold it securely while allowing a careful (and emergency) clip on/off.

Of course, some people might not like magnets in their brain, and some might think it's a health benefit.

Piercings come out pretty easily.

Tell that to my roommate's nipples.

Kenn's roommate's nipples: Piercings come out relatively easily!

I think it sounds cool, provided the removal/restoral process is streamlined a bit. I wouldn't be able to sleep on them like they are, and with the way I nigh-compulsively clean my glasses, it would be awkward.

Other than that, I think it would be neat!
