There's also a hint of Cinderella, with the one-shoe-off thing--not to mention the squirrel by the window (In the original fairy tale, Cinderella's slippers were made of squirrel fur, or vair; a misreading of that as verre led to the glass slippers in the more modern version).

And I'm reading that cat's tail as being kind of Puss-in-Boots-y.
