And this is why when people bitch about the numbers of troops in North America who have died since the war started... I inwardly scoff. Yes, over 3000 or 4000 deaths (or whatever it is now) is tragic. I don't mean to imply it's not important.
But think of the people we're attacking.. they lose about that many EVERY DAY. They don't get to get disgusted at images and refuse to look. They have to see those wounded and dying and deal with it. They don't get to turn the page to read about Barack and Hillary and ignore the war.
Sure, it sucks HUGE for the losses families here have incurred... but in Iraq it's multitudes worse. We need to give them more sympathy.
Deeply sad, but important. We are so distanced from this that we sometimes seem to see the dead as just numbers - we need to see the pain behind those numbers
