And in case y'all were wondering, vendors do have to submit a list, inclusive of all the items they intend to sell, to the convention staff for their own records and to settle disputes, and to prevent vendors from portraying the party in a manner the party does not wish to be portrayed in.
In short, there is no way in the Seven Hells that this was an 'oopsie'.
The reader comments at the end of this article make me sick. (Woman won a lawsuit against a salon that refused to hire her because she wore a headscarf). People are racist xenophobic jerks.
I cannot yet find an actual contract that explicitly illustrates this, but the same phenomenon has been following the Texas GOP for ~ 10 years as is clearly illustrated here:
Excerpt: "Republican Party of Texas communications director Robert Black told the "Dallas Morning News" that neither group {Log Cabin Republicans and Texas Freedom Network - ED.} represented the "mainstream views of Republicans and most Texans" and said, "We're not going to allow a forum for the kind of hateful language against people of faith that the Texas Freedom Network, or the KKK or the National Man-Boy Love Association or whoever else wants to spew."
Part of the problem is that "gay Republican" is basically like saying "black Klansman" - sure, you may love the Klan and want the Klan to succeed, but *they still hate you and want you dead*, and the very success you're working for includes you losing everything.
Doesn't Texas have some king of clause built into its state constitution, assuring that it can secede at the drop of a hat? I wish they'd get to it, so the asshats can flock there and fester in their own inept idiocy, and ruin their own economy instead of leeching from the rest of us.
You know that, and I know that. *shrug* In my experience, very few people understand and can extrapolate from what they're reading without a puppet show to go with it.
The point above is that the Texas Republican Party approves vendors at conventions or excludes them based on providing those views a forum and protecting the desired image of the party.
Hell, my dad might have told me that joke. He likes to try to see how "up-to-speed" he can get me going on a rant. They probably did sell. I don't know how many people wore them, though.
Whatever they might have in their Constitution is over-ridden by the fact that the federal govt. will smack them hard if they should do so.
What I /do/ know is provided for by Texas state law is breaking the state up into five states in situations where it would be deemed necessary to do so.
I think they're people who've been tricked into thinking that Republicans may be backwards on social issues, but they're spot-on with fiscal policy, thus fags should jump on board and gradually work social progress into the Rep agenda. Of course, the party's fiscal policies are a disaster and the only reason they let the log cabins stick around is so that they can point to them and claim that they're inclusive.
Also, retardation is a possible explanation. Not all homos are intelligent.

I'm doubting anyone ever tries it.
