I should elaborate: the existance of ignorant nebbishes who don't know the difference between God and Allah, who read the Daily Mail, and who call themselves Christian because the people they hate at the moment don't, that I'll believe. That these accusations have been made, that I'll believe. That there is any substance to the allegations, that the people quoted even have the first foggy idea what they're talking about? Not so much faith there.
It's not about these schlemiels being Christian, BTW. If it were an issue with EU regulations or Pakistani immigrants, they'd have the St George flag out and be talking about how English they are. It shouldn't reflect on Christianity or other Christians. The important part was the "ignorant redneck" bit.
Nothing about it on Snopes. It's probably false, but my cynicism isn't just about Fox, it extends to teachers who get bad ideas and are offended when students don't go along with them.
Is the Telegraph more reputable? This story has more detail. Actually, this story makes the exercise seem disrespectful of both Muslims and non-Muslims.
Often, papers like the Torygraph will wait for e.g. the Sun or the Mail to report on a story, and then report on it in turn, on the grounds that it's now news.
Looks like a RE (Religious Education) teacher decided to have her pupils try to empathise with being muslims, and their parents have kicked up a hissy fit. Perfect mix for the Mail and/or Torygraph, then.
