Weirdly enough, I look at the shape of the thing it's eating, and I start immediately wondering if it's a black widow. I'm sure it can't be, but...

That was my reaction too. In fact, since the picture displays top-down, at first I thought it was a picture of a black widow being "milked" for its venom.

Then I saw what the pink thing really was.

I now think we're seeing the tail-end of a beetle or cricket.

Beetle. Looks like one of those beetles shown nearly headstanding on a dune crest as they used their bodies as a fog trap, drinking the droplets of moisture that trickled down their bodies. National Geographic or Nature. Namib desert beetle. Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namib_Desert_beetle
