Two zoos in easy driving distance - Granby Zoo, in Granby (far side of Montreal, about 300KM) and Toronto Zoo (Scarborough, about 500KM)

Who wants to make a road trip some weekend?

I've got family infesting Montreal. I'm sure they'd put us up for the night if I asked. I also know all kinds of people on the far side of Toronto, but that's less productive.

I am a big fan of zoo's personally, though you could have guessed from the Biology degree.

Is that a "Yes, John, I would like to go to the zoo with you"?

If so, do you have a preference as to which zoo?

Sounds about right. I have never seen the Granby Zoo, but then again the last time I saw the Toronto Zoo was 9 years ago. I am a fan of the 400 km closer for the round trip thing.

I will not go to the zoo, but I am on the correct side of Toronto and have a guest room.

Are you willing to put up myself, my wife Frances, and potentially another two people for a night?

(Answers separated by "yes you, yes you, not you two" are totally okay)

And, frankly, I'd like to see Toronto's Newest Drive In If You're Really Kinda Crazy theatre for myself. It might make up for us being *in the same building* for several years while conversing on the internet without ever meeting in person.

I did not see your reply to this.

Um, yes, yes, maybe some other time? Until we get the basement repaired, capacity is two.

The Toronto Zoo has Stingray Bay on right now, where you can pet Stingrays.

That worked out so well for Steve Irwin.

Granby also has a pet-the-ray pool.

No idea, but I'm home until next Saturday, and then Ottawa for the weekend, then back here come the 17th or so. If a few people wanted to come up we have the space.

You realize that it's Construction Holiday season which translates wall-to-wall people? Thursday wasn't too bad because of the roving waves of thunder storms. Friday was OK too because the forecast called for a repeat of Thursday but instead we were dry all day. Tuesday and Wednesday were client hell days. Tuesday: 16,911 people jammed in the zoo, Wednesday another 16 thousand. When that happens, not only do you spend an hour in a traffic jam that goes back 15 kilometers to the highway but you get redirected to the Zellers parking lot a kilometer away from the zoo and spend even more time waiting for the shuttle... But we have a wave pool, innertube ride, a wading pool with spaying water features, bumper cars, ferris wheel, roller coaster and other fair-grounds stuff as well as a compact enough zoo that you won't croak walking all the way through it.

I have lots of rooms, two extra beds, another mattress I just haven't thrown away and a renovated basement. On the downside: spiders, one sink and one bathroom for the entire house, OMG dirt everywhere and no curtains on the windows and OMFG please tell me a few days in advance so I do _something_ about the piles of enveloppes and books and clothes and dirty dishes and... On the upside: in the country with a neighbour visible on only one side and only 15 minutes from the zoo by car.

Hunh. For some reason, I was sure you were in Australia.

(I had you confused in my head with [livejournal.com profile] dewhitton)

And yeah, I know it's going to be busy in the middle of the summer. And at the same time, it's the ZOOO. I haven't been to one of them in decades, literally.

I'd love to, but alas, I'm either working or in Israel pretty much until Sept 2, when I'm either working or in school.

Take a one year raincheck? I'll drive!

Me me me!

Either is good. Montreal we know more people in, and might could have coffee with them. Toronto I can take pictures of with my brain.

We are a single bus ride away from the Toronto Zoo and we've been wanting to go there. We could all meet up, perhaps!

Ooooh, I'm interested. I'd have to leave Andrew behind though, unless he can get the weekend off. I'd have to schedule around my mom's knee surgery though.
