Yup, it's from Wanted. The movie's filled with little stylized bits like this. Very comic book, which is appropriate.

I enjoyed the movie, but that's what I went in expecting. :)

It seems reasonable - Appropriate screen actor, appropriate special effects.

It had its moments. Three things made me not like it overall.

1) The main character's kind of a dick. In a Nice Guy sorta way.

2) The physics bug the hell outa me.

3) The fact that its the bad guys not blindly killing people based off Magical ASCII Loom.

I lied.

4) In some settings, a group of people are tasked with eliminating complete strangers, but are assured that they serve a greater good, no matter how little connection they see between killing their target and serving a higher plan. In Wanted, the example story given to the neophyte is about how a member of the group refused to kill this horribly evil man, and how that man went on to do something horribly evil. Completely ruined the point.

Actually, thinking about it there's still more. It does have lots of good violence in it. One part near the end I'm glad they didn't chicken out on, and the reason why the whole movie is dominated by Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie.

haven't seen it yet myself, but if it bugs you that the main characters are supposedly serving a 'greater good' in the movie, you might want to check out the comic, in which the main characters are supervillians and rule the world, thus can get away with anything.

None of this 'magic loom tells us who needs to die' shit. It's plain and simple 'fuck shit up whooooooo!'

I did not like it.

I thought it was a weak imitation of the comic; either do the whole thing and be provocative or don't do it at all. None of the characters were interesting. The gags got old after awhile. And I'm really miffed about them changing the race of Fox from black to white.

Wow... that seems inherently racist to me, and I don't care what excuses they used.. "Why does he have to be black?" -- because there's not enough parts for black actors these days, assholes!

Hollywood is so racist/sexist/homophobic. I.e. a good mirror of the United States.

Given that the lead character in the comic is INTENTIONALLY drawn to be Emminem and the Fox is INTENTIONALLY drawn to be Halle Berry, their being a white dude and a black woman is important to the original plot. Of course I find the original comic a horrid racist, homophobic, misogynistic pile of poorly written shit...

So it jived somewhat with my impression of the movie. Minus the racist bit, since Morgan Freeman's the only black man.

To be fair, they also changed the "Solomon Setzer" role from white to black.

It's kind of a hard question to answer because the movie was not really the book at all.

First off, there were no real good guys or bad guys in the comic. Everyone was a bad guy. There were the bad guys who the story was about and the bad guys who they were against. The characters were all, for the most part, irredeemably reprehensible.

Morgan Freeman's role in the movie most closely resembled Setzer's role in the comic, though he was named something completely different. In the movie, they were all pretty morally grey leaning towards black, but Morgan Freeman did end up as the bad guy.

Thankfully, I'll go into this flick without having background on the source material. I'll probably enjoy it.

Then I'll go and read the comic, and enjoy that.

That's how it went with Jurassic Park. Saw the movie, loved it to pieces, read the book and realized it's a thousand times BETTER. Now I can enjoy them both, for what they are, instead of being a bitter fanboy dick because Spielberg's screenwriters couldn't magically shoehorn an entire novel of ideas into 2 hours. ;)

I watched it based on that image, me.

I enjoyed most of it, but my enjoyment faded the further into the movie I went, until by the ending I felt disgust.

I really went in with no expectations other than this image. Any further expectations were based on what the movie itself promised. Or at least, that was how I experienced it.

Still, I regret nothing.

It was so little like the comic that they may as well have named it Abigail Mae's Adventures in Belgium and the basic plot hole in it was annoying. The director is the same guy who did Night Watch and Day Watch though, so if you like his style (which I do, and I think the shot above is part and parcel of) there's enough to get you through it I guess.

It's worth watching if you don't have to pay for it.

The graphic novel, on the other hand, is most definitely worth a read.
