I'm installing XP. In Korean. On a machine that doesn't exist. Via SSH.

I am awesome.

Surely the machine exists in some manner. It is merely the case that we, as limited human beings, do not necessarily understand the ultimate workings of the machine.

Or are you installing to /dev/null?

... the only good partition to install Windows on.

One might argue that

/bin/mount ^[a-z]+.microsoft.com:/vol/Doom /mnt/Doom

would be better.

more fun.

then you'd have an OS forged in mount doom.

One does not simply walk into Richmond.

One does not simply telnet into Redmond.

That's pretty damn awesome, but I have to ask, why Korean?

Also, would I be correct in assuming your SSH'd into a VM server?

Because my clients can't make their product fail in English the way the Korean customers are making it fail.

(I'm SSH'd into a terminal server and tunneling VMWare Server Console to the VMWare Server over it.)

So the OS is on the network instead of the machine, that way the login gui downloads the capabilities to a machine which probably doesn't consist of much more than a fan, cpu and a bit of memory. I see that configuration a lot in display models at Conventions. That way if the pc gets stolen, it's virtually useless and costs less to replace.

Well, in this case it's a virtual machine.

I'm using SSH to tunnel my Console traffic to a remote VMWare server. VMWare Server lets me create the virtual machine and access it as if I was sitting in front of it. It's been told that a Korean XP disk ISO is it's CD-rom drive, and the machine is booting happily.

However, the machine itself doesn't exist. All of it's hardware is just a process on the VMWare Server machine.
