Archaeologists find the Mayan hell.

No, really. They really, literally, in the real world, no joke, found the place the Mayans called hell.

There were underground caves, water-filled, that the Mayans believed were a portal to the underworld. Their term for it, Xibalba, means "place of fear".

Well, scuba divers started exploring, and, once they got past all the human remains, found a series of air-filled caves - full of temples.

Now _that_ is the value of religion. Hard to find Hell without religion after all. :P

dude, I think I might switch religions. I mean, if they found the judaeo-christian heaven or hell, I might rethink my values as well.

I has a *Classic* Marvel campaign. Bad, bad things are about to befall my intrepid, dimension-hopping crew. Furthermore, now that I know that there is an actual portal to the Real Live Mayan Hell(TM, pat pending) -- well, all kinds of wackiness can happen.

To...Xibalba?

See, now they can find all the gold that was tossed over the cliff. Movies never lie!

Although that river of scorpions, blood, and pus might make it...a little less worth it.

I almost pissed my pants when I first read about this. I want more pictures than anyone will ever be able to provide. There had better be tours of this shit available soon.

I doubt they'll do tours because it's a sensitive archeological site, and cave diving is dangerous.

I want photographs, and maps, gottdamit. Because gottdam if that's not a dungeon crawl.
