It's official, election season's open.

A whole month of campaigning. Man, that's going to be really annoying.

(PS: Canada's Interim Placeholder Prime Minister called the election *a year early* despite HIS OWN GOVERNMENT passing a law that required fixed election dates, which was one of HIS OWN campaign promises. He didn't ask the house to repeal the law, he's simply not following it, and neither is anyone else, and nobody cares.

There's a good reason why they're still Canada's Interim Placeholder Government.)

Ignoring the law you campaigned on last time is stunning. It will be interesting to see how much that fact plays out. I know that the Bloc are hammering on that point in Quebec and using it as proof that the Conservative's don't deserve and can not be trusted with a majority government. And really, I find it hard to disagree with that logic.

Yeah, I actually didn't know that was passed into law until recently. But we're so used to not having set dates, I don't think anyone will pay attention to the law. I think we've all forgotten about it.

No thanks, I prefer my governments to have reality-based economic plans.

For the longest time they were the only party with a realistic environmental plan. The environment is so important to me, it's my BSc. And they petitioned for a higher minimum wage in Ontario and we have it. In Feb it'll be over $10/hr.

Otherwise I'd vote Liberal.

I don't mind the NDP, in principle.

In practice, every time they make a government they *tank* the province.

They say they want to do the same with the country.

It makes me not trust them with the country.

My bf says that fewer people lost their jobs under the NDP than they did under the following Conservatives (provincial, obv). That's not to say Bob Rae didn't have his blunders, but like all Premiers he started good initiatives as well. Our photo health card was his, remember (and the gov't is now nagging me to replace my red stripe b/c they won't be acceptable anymore in the next year or whatever).

I think the NDP would be great as an official opposition. I agree that I'm not sure about their ability to govern at top levels but they don't have the support levels to be a real challenge to the other two anyway. However they do help a lot as an other voice of criticism and concern. So, it's also a matter of I support what they're doing and want to help them continue.

Besides. My one cousin is part of the Green Party. He lives in Ottawa now, actually. Just moved there a year ago. So you can imagine OUR conversations. ;)

I vote NDP, but mostly because I'd like them to form the opposition.

Now you're just trolling. :p

Or bragging, one of the two. Or both.

And then places the election on a Jewish holiday which prohibits things like voting. Forcing any devout member of that group to vote on advanced polls will not help the neocons.
