This is so true. The first time I heard the song, it was sung by a guy at our company picnic talent show. (He changed the line to "hope her boyfriend don't mind", but still...). The instrumental part was also way better when it was just this guy playing his guitar - I actually liked it enough to want to look up the song when I got home, something I immediately regretted doing.
