McCain campaign prints, mails more than a million "request an absentee ballot" forms with an extra, unnecessary,
"pointless"[1] checkbox - and if you return the form but don't check that box, you legally are de-registered and can't vote.

[1]: The point is to disenfranchise voters, of course, a standard Republican goal. But it doesn't have to be there, and shouldn't be.

Did he actually send these to independent / left-leaning voters, though? It just says that they were mailed out. I'd be surprised to think that they're disenfranchising people who asked their own campaign for an absentee form. In fact, re-reading the article closely, it seems like the McCain campaign is mad that the forms are being thrown out rather than just being accepted. I don't think this is quite the right take on the matter, unless I'm missing context.
