New Slipknot: Kind of boring. Amelodic thrash with lots of yelling - I was bored of this when it was called "Punk", man. But Snuff is a great track.

New Motörhead: This is a great album. The whole thing's gone into rotation. If you like hard rock, you probably already like Motörhead, and so you should buy this one. Track 1 will eat your brain and you will be happy. Lemmy calls it "Nonsense set to an infectious beat". But yeah. Best new album I've bought in years.

New Dragonforce: It's DRAGONFORCE. No, really. That's the entirety of the description I can give you, and really all you need.

New In Flames: God, when did In Flames get *boring*?

I mock my brother incessantly for listening to Dragonforce Z.

It's lousy music, but it's *so awesome* that you can forget that.

It makes me happy, in the same way that Luca Turilli's vanity project Rhapsody do - sure, they're a bunch of D&D geeks singing about their characters, but, dude, they have song titles like "Dargor, Shadowlord Of The Black Mountain".

Exactly. It's dumb, and silly, and not the least bit serious, and completely awesome. I seriously think that people who get down on Dragonforce for being Dragonforce are just incapable of enjoying themselves.

Also, there's this. (http://www.legorobotcomics.com/?id=69)

They remind me of Snakes on a Plane: can't decide if they're going to be serious or campy and failing at both because they can't make up their mind.

I would normally say Snakes *succeeded* at both, much the way A Knight's Tale did. It doesn't matter if they pull out Queen and Bowie as "period" music and have trumpets lip-syncing the electric guitar parts while the noble daughter wears keyhole shirts and Heath Ledger's armorer uses the Nike symbol. That's not the point. The point is that it's a fun story about a knight, and they did their best to make sure authenticity concerns didn't get in the way by making authenticity, itself, part of the joke.

Snakes does the same thing with regards to the thriller/horror movie tropes, and so does Dragonforce about THE POWER OF METAL!!!1!

Differing tastes, and all that. But I find this kind of thing amusing - it's like Lemmy showing up on the Drew Carey Show.

I like the In flames album, but it takes a few listens to get into. Really I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the singer has been having some problems.
"Reroute to remain" remains my favorite of theirs though.

I plan on picking up the Dragonforce album, and the Airbourne (who do AC/DC better than AC/DC do) album soon. Just bough the latest Metallica...it's....OK I guess. One song is a MAJOR rip off of "Creeping death" though.
