I have seen the future.
And it doesn't make sense.

Doctors have found a way to target a portion of HIV that does not mutate, potentially having a way to create a permanent vaccine.

Here's hoping that they can get funding for human clinical trials.
And that big Pharma doesn't end up grabbing this and charging $50,000 per dose.

They will get funding, but it will probably be like the researching being done for MS. - slow and expensive.
2009 could be the best year ever...

if this is true, no more aids?
Party at my BATH HOUSE!!
also, if Obama gets elected?
A bad year for closed minded religious nuts who view a horrible virus as "Gods will"...I hope there's plenty of Kool Aid for them...

This is amazing, but it's a cure not a treatment that'll keep you on expensive medications for the rest of your life. So... meh.

You're missing the bigger picture. This is a vaccine.
What's better: A few hundred thousand customers for the next 20 years, or *six billion* customers *right now*?
That'll give you enough downtime to develop the next cash cow, and give all your executives a billion-dollar bonus. They'll do it.

Because this kind of result is not unknown, and then doesn't pan out past that.
But it's still *cool* to have the potential.
