I had a black cat that would hang out on the other side of open door ways, laying in wait, until the dog would come through, then he'd pounce. Eventually, the dog understood that the cat was higher on the pecking order than he was.

My parents had a cat that would shove the dog (10 times the size of the cat) off the couch if the cat wanted to sleep where the dog was sitting.

When I was little, we had a cat who would, in the vet's office waiting room, stare down and even smack enormous dogs, who would generally whine and run away.

Goddamn I loved that cat.
