I am trying to figure out if they are trying to succeed for some insane ideological reason or if they are just trying to make Obama's life an everlasting hell.
Read a Charlie Stross book recently where one of the characters quite succintly dissected the American problem in reference to George Bush: The myth of American superiority is so strong that a President *cannot* admit defeat, he *cannot* compromise, and he *cannot* respond to a potential threat in any way other than with overwhelming force, or else he is excoriated, forever branded as "weak", and loses all power completely.
