Sadly, it appears the filly was merely curious (followed by confused and upset by having her head stuck in a tree).

Good news, she's been freed and while she temporarily had a bruised or dislocated jaw, she's much better now.

No excuse when they cripple a horse "playing." Euthanasia rather than death by horse would be preferable for an out-of-control dog, granted, but at least the problem is fixed.

And I also hope the dog got away, because it's probably a stupid human's fault and I bet the dog has learned its lesson.

Dear old Dad used to have a border collie/dingo mix that loved to chase the horses. One day the dog was chasing the Quarter horse around the barn, but didn't come around when the horse ran around the other side (yet the horse was still at full gallop). As the horse rounded the front of the barn we could see the dog hanging off it's tail with none of it's legs on the ground.

Thanks for bringing back that memory.
