Oh, that was a joke? It just looked like one of those dick moves where someone provides incomplete or ambiguous information and then laughs at the recipient for assuming good faith.

Right, weasel tells everyone that everything is going to SHUT DOWN, and people in the comments help make it look real by overreacting, and then we all have a good laugh~

Not "laughs", but I find the occasional technically-true-but-misleading headline keeps people on their toes. Like when Patrick Stewart died and Stephen Harper was arrested for murdering his parents with an axe.

Man, if only that had been the right Stephen Harper.

Besides, it gives the rest of us a chance to try and determine what your headline ACTUALLY means before clicking to find out. :D I love puzzles.

I figured it was probably a server move, mind you. I think it had been mentioned previously.

Ambiguous but factually accurate text as part of a link tot he full story.

If you can't be arsed to follow a link about something you supposedly care enough about to be checking regularly, then your problem. Also, why read a linkblogger if you're not going to follow the links?

Plus, it's hardly the first time that he's done this sort of thing. You'd've thought people would be used to it by now...

I wonder. Years ago, I lost my email for over a week due to some error during some Yahoo server upgrade. I was one of an unlucky few, but that error message reminded me these things do have physical locations and is subject to human error. And sometimes a reboot reveals new bugs in hard or software.

Given how LJ has buggy days anyway, I don't have a lot of faith that something requiring a total shutdown for four hours is going to be glitch free.

For you?

It's entertaining how the comments are closed on that post. Poor tech people.

LJbook won't know what hit it tomorrow.

(...speaking of which, I think I should go back up my latest year as well.)

Montana is shockingly unlikely to fall into the pacific ocean.
