I guess she assumed that a piano abandoned in the woods was probably stolen.

-- Steve'd bet on "prank" himself, but sees calling the cops as a reasonable response just in case someone didn't part with this musical instrument willingly.

Harwich police have had some fun, though. Among the photos they sent to the news media is one of Officer Derek Dutra examining the piano in the woods. The police entitled the photo "Liberace."
