Friday Tradition!
Dec. 1st, 2008 07:50 pmI think I've done this one before. Oh, if only there was a "tag" function that I could use, or something.[1]
Oh well. Aztec Camera doing a mello soft-rock tune you might recognise.
Have I done Rob Zombie's "Blitzkireg Bop" or Blind Guardian's "Surfin' USA" yet?
[1]: That didn't require me to go back, tag them all, then tag the future ones. And didn't require me to think about it to check for duplicates.

1. Turn on the option that default emails you responses to your posts. Pay a small amount for a paid account if needed.
2. Set up a rule that puts emails with a subject containing the word "tag" into a separate folder.
3. Let loose your readers to reply to stuff that should be tagged; subject: "tag", body: [tags], for example, Friday, song, tradition, zombie
4. Write a greasemonkey script that reads the entry number from the emails with a subject line of "tag", and reading the tags from the body (all or only pre-approved from a script you set up) and apply to each post.
Future
1. Write a greasemonkey script that reads your new entries 3 min after they are posted.
2. Have greasemonkey script pick out words that are already tags or approved tags - if they match, tag entry with the tag. Example, this post would be "friday tradition", "rob zombie", "blind guardian".
3. Write a probability algorithm for related terms, so "Friday Tradition", if tied with a link that ends in a known music or video format, is a tag along with the tag "covers".
