Not really, it's just he's played to many shooter games; if he'd aimed for centre-of-mass he probably would've connected, but he went for the fancy-schmancy headshot and made it easier for Dubya to duck.
But I'm wondering where this noble Iraqi was during the near 25 years that Saddam was engaging in his own illegitimate invasions and ethnic-cleansing the fellow countrymen of this better form of human being. Provided a legitimate Iraqi journalist was allowed unfettered access in a press conference, I'm wondering if Captain Badass here would've felt as emboldened to take his shot. I'd be surprised and impressed.
That said, I did enjoy watching this, as well as feel more than a little embarrassed about this clown still speaking and acting in my name.
If you're wondering, why not go find out? A cursory google reveals little about Muntazer al-Zaidi, although he was apparently kidnapped in November 2007 and released after two days:
From these articles you can discern a rough age (26/28) so he was likely between 22 or 24 in 2003, at the outset of the invasion. This means that he was a child at the time of the first Gulf War and grew up under US- and UN-imposed sanctions. That wasn't so hard, was it?
Of course, the "Iraqis better people than Americans" is a remark every bit as silly as your ignorant moral posturing, as evidenced by nothing more complex than the servile apologies and crawling of some of the other journalists at the same conference.
For the record, I'm British and marched against the war, and am ashamed that our government continues to participate in this illegal occupation.
I'm quite aware. And yet, the news story doesn't add anything to my post: Iraqis consider Bush to be the worst form of scum and do the most insulting thing they can imagine to him. Americans? They call him "president". Iraqis are, unambiguously and without doubt of any kind, better people than Americans.
As an Iraqi citizen, the thrower will probably not be arrested and detained indefinitely. Hell, once out of sight from the Americans, his captors will probably high-five him.
By contrast, the same stunt pulled by a Yank will probably bring the Secret Service down on him for life. Remember, we can't even flip the presidential convoy off without getting fired. So much for free speech.

Date: 2008-12-15 08:58 pm (UTC)americans are terrified of what their own government will do to them if they even tried to say something against the ones in power.
even i am still rightly-petrified that the secret service has my LJ on file because of the anti-bush and anti-government things i have said.
and we have reason to be scared. that guy has more balls than i probably ever will have.
