More like a republican sex fantasy - immortal, all-powerful, there's not a single thing on the planet or off it capable of stopping him from doing anything he wants to do - and he CHOOSES to be an American because of good old-fashioned down-home Kansas values.

This isn't the pinnacle of the President Kennedy/Superman relationship. The pinnacle was a later issue where Superman's secret identity was in jeopardy again. Superman and Clark Kent had to show up at the same function, or Lois Lane would ruin his dual identity and destroy his life. You know, because she loved him. Batman -- who Superman regularly employed as a stand-in -- was unavailable. He was "sunk."

So the event takes place... and Superman and Clark Kent show up. Once again, Lois looks like a moron. Once again, she would forget this in six to eight weeks time. And at the end of the comic, we discover that the stand-in... was President Kennedy. Because the one person Superman knew he could trust with his secret identity was the President of the United States.

Why is this a pinnacle moment? Because this issue distributed... in Late November, 1963. Essentially hitting newsstands the day after Kennedy was shot.

Mightygodking has the panels here http://mightygodking.com/index.php/2008/10/01/revealing-a-piece-of-comics-history/ , along with parts of the script that didn't make it to print...

Something's fishy there. I think those "Extra pages" are somebody's idea of a joke, given the detail they go into with the Assassination and all that. Especially if this particular issue came out "Right after" the incident actually happened. There's no time lag between scripting, drawing, inking and printing time?

Gee, some deeply inappropriate and anachronistic content, being both funny *and* posted to a humour blog, maybe not being true?

Shocking! Shocking I say!

Well, uh, yes. The entry does have the tags Photoshopp'd and Bad Comedy, if the idea of a comic writer predicting Jack Ruby would get cancer wasn't enough to clue you in that the extra pages are just a joke.
